Tips for Nordic Pole Walking and Cold Weather Training

Use base-layer clothing made from fabrics that are designed to wick sweat away from your skin.  This will keep you dry and warm for the duration of your workout.

Wear shades. In the most cool or cold weather conditions, sport sunglasses protect your eyes from the bright sun reflecting off of the snow and prevent them from drying due to cold or wind.

Keep it down.  A lightweight down coat is the solution to keeping you toasty during winter sports.

Protect your feet.  A single pair of thermal or wool socks is sufficient.  Over layering will cause decrease in circulation and is only recommended in very cold conditions.

H20. You must keep hydrated in cold temperatures.  While it may it feel unappealing, drinking regularly during cold temperature workouts is just as necessary as in warmer weather.

Chung Shi Nordic Pole Walking, often described as cross-country skiing without the skis, provides health benefits far beyond what normal walkers and joggers achieve in their workouts.  Unlike normal walking, that is focused on the lower body, Chung Shi Nordic Pole Walking exercises the entire body.  Participants use their arms to push off from their poles, engaging the entire range of upper-body muscles.  The sport, which got its start 10 years ago in Europe, is enjoyed by more than 4 million people worldwide.  It is just recently gaining popularity in the U.S.

People who have not worked out in many years love this exercise because it is a low impact sport with great benefits.  Anybody who can walk can do it.  And it is time efficient!

Nordic Pole Walking burns 40 percent more calories than by walking without poles or by jogging.  Brining the upper body into the workout is the secret to the huge amount of calorie burning.

Foot Solutions Chung Shi shoes work together with the Nordic Poles to offer a more enhanced workout experience.  Due to the unique design of the shoe, which replicates walking on an uneven surface, calorie burning is increased by 50% over walking alone.  Within a one hour walk, you can burn up to 950 calories in comparison to 500 from jogging!

Chung Shi Nordic Pole Walking also works to strengthen the heart and cardiovascular system which decreases blood pressure.  It's a great form of exercise for heart patients as well as older and less than fit individuals.

The workout is popular with the younger individuals as well because it strengthens all the upper body muscles including the neck, shoulders, back, core and arms, especially the triceps.  Chung Shi Nordic Pole Walking also helps to develop an upright body posture which is important at any age.

Chung Shi Nordic Pole Walking helps diabetics control blood sugar levels.  Orthopedic doctors recommend it to patients who have had knee and hip replacements because there is a 30 percent lover impact to hip and knee joints when you walk with the poles. Psychologists like the activity because it releases stress hormones like adrenaline which has a natural calming effect on individuals.  And Neurologists say it helps regulate cortisol which prevents bran cell damage and other brain related diseases.

The bottom line is, Chung Shi Nordic Pole Walking is a fun, new way to exercise that appeals to people of all fitness levels.
