In
summary, the exercise person working with the persons with a chronic
disease or disability must be able to employ techniques from each
of the seven families of exercise tests. In the past, much of the
emphasis has been on aerobic exercise testing, largely because of
the prevalence of cardiovascular disease and the popularity of aerobic
exercise. However, many exercise professionals have long used measures
of strength, flexibility, neuromuscular skills, and functional performance.
Research has shown over the last several decades that exercise in
chronic ill patients and those with disabilities, increases self
esteem, better quality of life and longevity, even more so for those
that would most likely remain sediment for similar reasons of those
without these illnesses. I have specialized training in working
with chronically ill and disabled people wanting to engage in diet
and exercise. In addition, since I am a registered nurse and fitness
practitioner I can work with your primary care physician and/or
family doctor(s) to establish an open line of communication on progress.
For more information, call my office or start by filling out the
fitness survey and we can contact you to setup a consultation. |
